Non-Resident Importers Program

This program was put in place to enable non-resident importers to access the lucrative Canadian market easily. Non resident importers can act as the importer of record in order to import their goods into Canada and sell on a delivered basis with all charges inclusive.

The following are key issues to consider for any non resident importer who wishes to be registered under the program:

• Import Business Number - Get free on the CRA website here

• Maintenance of books & records at your permanent foreign address

• GST (Goods & Services Tax)

• Documentation

• CUSMA ( formerly NAFTA)

• Valuation of goods

• Warehousing/Distribution

• Warranty/Returns Program
